Thomas J. Daniels, a beloved husband, brother, uncle, brother-in-law, stepfather, step-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2024, at the age of 77 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. Born and raised in Orange, New Jersey, he later made his home in Lakewood, NJ.
He is survived by his loving wife, Theresa Hertler; sister, Patricia Sheafer (Henry); nephews, Scott Sheafer (Janine) and Brian Sheafer (Lisa); great-nieces and great-nephews Christina and Justin Sheafer, Mila and Maddox Sheafer. Thomas is also survived by brothers-in-law, Frank Hertler, Rick Hertler, and Lou Hertler; sister-in-law Deb Hertler; stepson Chris Malanga (Stephanie); step-grandchildren, Cole Suler, and Christopher and Jaxson Malanga; along with countless friends who cherished him.
A proud graduate of Kean University, Thomas served his country honorably in the United States Army, embodying courage and dedication throughout his life. He worked for the Office of the Attorney General of New Jersey for many years. A lifelong fan of the New York Jets, he always made time for his favorite team, even during the hardest seasons. His love for dogs was a defining trait, and he shared his home and heart with many over the years.
He was predeceased by his parents, James and Dolores Daniels, and stepdaughter, Tara Suler.
Thomas was deeply involved in the lives of his family and friends, offering wisdom, humor, and unwavering support. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Saturday, September 21, 2024 from 2:00pm until the time of the Funeral Ceremony and Military Honors at 5:30pm at the O’Brien Funeral Home 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall.
